Monsanto Trying to Change US Patent Law

The Monsanto Corporation which is a leading producer of genetically engineered crops and seeds spent $2.46 million in the first quarter to try to change US patent law.

Monsanto is being investigated by the Justice Department to see if they have violated antitrust laws in their development, control, and sale of patented genes.

Monsanto has drastically increased its lobbying efforts since the Justice Department’s antitrust investigation. They spent $1.28 million lobbying the government during the first quarter of last year before the investigation began.
