eBay Sued Over PayPal Technology

Published on 07/16/2010

Ecommerce giant eBay faces patent infringement allegations over the use of PayPal, Bill Me Later, Shopping.com, and StubHub.

The lawsuit was filed in US District Court in Delaware by XRT Ventures which is seeking $3.8 billion dollars from eBay.

The company claims that eBay stole confidential information and then infringed on 6 patents after XRT attempted to sell its technology to the online retailer.

XRT alleges that eBay then used the patent pending technology to create PayPal, a service that allows money payments to be made through internet transfers.

Some experts believe that XRT has a very strong, thorough suit because of communication records and a contractual agreement between the two companies.
